It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year!

The day is quickly approaching that retailers speak about in hushed tones. The day when stores historically find themselves out of the red. BLACK FRIDAY! Or as non-retailers refer to it, the day after Thanksgiving. Or as the hubs refer to it time to leave for deer camp.

The whole red/black thing doesn’t apply anymore but the excitement of the day still brings a sparkle to this retail saleswoman. Back in the day, I worked for The Limited, some of you may remember that store. I spent more on clothes than I ever made, but damn I looked good. Now, this was long before Thanksgiving Day, early morning or internet shopping. The excitement would build, the Christmas carols would blare on the mall speakers and the shoppers would cyclone through everything. At the end of the day the store looked like a bomb went off, clothing trampled all over the floor, jewelry scattered everywhere, sore feet, and ringing ears (from Christmas music and complaints) but it was great. The rush of adrenaline, the urgency of getting just the right size, putting together an outfit for a granddaughter. I loved it!

Fast forward a number (large number) of years, and I’m back in retail! I admit that on Thanksgiving Day (all day) the Friday Frenzy is in the back of my mind. I look forward to the smiles, laughs, problems, urgency, and stress. I don’t think it's for everyone, an acquired taste for sure. But once you get a taste, its something you’ll always crave.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and join us for our annual Friday after Thanksgiving event. It is a fun day in the shop.
