The Kitchen Capers

The Thompsons are finally re-doing the kitchen. When we bought the house, we knew we would need to do it somewhere down the road, and we’ve come to the end of that road.

Here ’s a little background on my house. My house was built in 1999 by a single man.

We have a four-car garage, if we could fit cars in (yes, its full of treasures). When we looked at the house, the basement was full of greasy auto parts and motorcycles. A selling point was you could drive a car into the basement for additional garage bays. Also, the master bedroom is above the garage and framed so you could put in a spiral staircase from the bedroom to the garage. To quote a poet from the ’90’s "Things that make you go Hmm.” Rounding out my house, it has a bar sink in the kitchen and inexpensive (cheap) cupboards that have collapsed or pulled away from the wall; both issues are indirectly my fault— Pyrex cookware, Fiesta dishes. Let’s not go there. The Hubs is still a little salty about the incident we refer to as a “catastrophic failure.”

I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. Demolition and flooring begin this weekend, and drywall replacement (sort of my fault, you would call it a Pinterest fail) starts Monday. I’m excited and worried. Construction always turns up the unexpected. Stay tuned this should be fun!
