My Stream of Consciousness

I had to have some minor surgery that honestly I’ve been putting off for ages. Everything went well and I should be back to my normal routine in a couple of days, but jeez I’m going a little stir crazy. I’ve binge-watched some TV, read, and caught up on some phone calls. Now what?? I tried to shop on eBay, Craigslist and Facebook. That was a bust. I put some clothes in my cart on Amazon but with this weather, do I buy sweaters or t-shirts?

I will admit the naps were nice. I’m not really supposed to lift, so cleaning the garage is out. I did have a project planned but believe it or not, I lost it. I can’t find the paint I bought or the wood pieces.

Let’s revisit a few more exciting weekends past. In February I took a short trip with my daughter Kelsey. She had a job interview and I was able to do some antique shopping. I hit some really great shops, but the thing that always sticks out is customer service.

Gone are the days of the snobby antique shop, no prices, I’ll look at your purse and your shoes and give you a price. Yes I did find one of those. I found several shops with excellent customer service and a friendly, knowledgeable staff I would go back and recommend to others.

I also found one that had some large items I really wanted to buy, but they treated me like an annoyance and made it difficult for me to ask questions. So, no money spent there.

In early March I traveled to see my Mom in Harrisburg, hit a couple of vintage stores, and then lunch at The Soda Jerk. They have excellent spinach pie.

Last weekend the shop participated in the local antique show that has been around forever. It was more of an ego thing on my part. I figured doing it means I have arrived I’ve crossed the threshold of “junktiques” to antiques. I guess I didn’t realize how many people still buy investment antiques. I thought that ship sailed, with the push of minimalistic and white. The people buying were older and considered the pieces undervalued. Am I out of touch or are they?

I feel like this stream of consciousness blog entry is due partly to the anesthesia and pain meds. I think I’ll take a nap and edit it later.
