"I'm ready for my closeup, Mr. DeMille"

This week a very good friend pushed me out of my comfort zone and had me do a video to promote Customer Appreciation Days at the store. Don’t get me wrong, in my younger days I would have jumped in front of the camera in a heartbeat. But after 30, many years of pizza, beer and Tastykakes, I don’t really like what I see. What I see isn’t what I feel. I feel like I’m 27 and slender with no laugh lines and perkier boobs.

So you ask, “Stacey where are you going with this because it’s a bummer blog entry?”

Here it comes!

Antique furniture suffers from the same march of ages. Those old drop leaf tables that survived so many cocktail parties, card games and dinners suffer from grease spots, white rings and burn marks. I see them as useful pieces of furniture that still have something to give. With a little elbow grease, you can bring these workhorse pieces of the household back to their former glory. With a little Restore-a-Finish, Howard’s Feed and Wax and Homax White Ring remover you will have a beautiful piece of furniture that in most cases you can buy cheaper than those ugly plastic folding tables or something from I_ _ _. That 52-year-old table will once again feel like 27 and offer you many years of service.

Somewhere in this there’s a life lesson. I think I’ll have a slice, a cold beer and ponder it.
